Rachael Lawrance

Director and Principal Statistician

Rachael provides statistical leadership and methodological expert input to projects for the Patient-Centered Outcomes projects at Adelphi Values. Rachael is passionate about ensuring that the patient perspective is reflected in understanding the impact of novel treatments on patients’ lives across a wide variety of indications, in particular oncology. This is focused on developing good objectives and expert analysis for clinical trial programmes and clinical studies, leading to regulatory or  reimbursement authority approvals as well as scientific dissemination. Rachael’s particular scientific focus is in the field of “estimands” – ensuring that research questions and objectives are clear for PRO endpoints, and in data visualisation and communication of interpretation of PRO data.  Prior to Adelphi Values, she worked for 16 years at AstraZeneca and as a freelance consultant statistician.

Rachael is a Director on the Board for ‘Statisticians in Pharmaceutical Industry’ professional body (PSI), leading the extensive programme of Events; she chairs the PRO Task Force within the EFSPI/PSI working group “Estimands in Oncology” and also co-chairs the ISOQoL Statistical SIG workstream on estimands. Rachael has a degree in Biochemistry and Genetics from University of Nottingham and a Diploma in Statistics and is a chartered statistician with the Royal Statistical Society (CStat).

Outside work, Rachael loves being out in the Peak District with her husband and two boys, and is a very keen fell runner.
