Trainee/SAS Programmer I

What we are looking for

We are looking for a trainee/SAS Programmer I to join our Patient-Centered Outcomes Statistics and Programming team. We are looking for a dynamic individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and who will enjoy a challenge. You will have a graduate degree in Medical or Biostatistics, Statistics, Quantitative Psychology, Educational Measurement, Epidemiology, Mathematics or a related field. We will provide training in SAS programming. Therefore, while desirable, experience in SAS is not required for the trainee role. Some previous experience of statistical programming or of performing statistical analysis with other software packages (e.g. R, SPSS, STATA) would be advantageous, as would an understanding of the field of health outcomes research and a genuine interest in psychometric analysis.

How you fit in

As a member of our growing global Statistics and Programming team, you will help us improve patients’ lives and investigate healthcare value by developing and designing the SAS programs that analyse and report clinical outcomes data (especially patient-reported outcomes data) in accordance with developed Statistical Analysis Plans (SAP) and regulatory requirements.

Trainees will be provided with training in SAS programming and gain experience in the development, maintenance and production of analysis datasets, tables, figures and data listings. Unlike many statistical programmer roles, this position is not a ‘table churning’ role, but will allow you to use your existing statistical/mathematical knowledge to think creatively and apply this to programming analyses in applied health research. This is an excellent opportunity for you to develop technical skills including hands-on experience with various SAS statistical procedures such as PROC REPORT, PROC GLM, PROC MIXED and the development of SAS macros. You will also gain experience in analysing CDISC ADaM and STDM data formats and potentially large hospital/insurance claim databases. You’ll be working as part of a dynamic team of committed health outcomes researchers who are passionate about conducting high quality research to meet our clients’ needs. We’re looking for someone with the drive and enthusiasm to grow into the role and, over time, become a highly competent and creative SAS programmer.
